Match RECAP: Williamsburg International FC The game didn't turn out quite how veteran WIFC players John Erganian and Jason Roos would have hoped as they both celebrated their 100th cap with the club. WIFC quickly fell victim to luck and saw them on the wrong side of a 5-1 scoreline by the end of the first half. WIFC got on the board first in less than 10 minutes. But over the course of the next 20 minutes NYPD FC benefited from...a deflection into the top corner, a kicksave that looped high into the air to catch the keeper out for an easy header, an own goal headed in by the WIFC backline (intened for the keeper), a breakaway that was covered but then hit off the crossbar and bounced back to an open NYPD forward with no keeper in sight, and another goal passed across the box for a tap in at the far post.
WIFC came back out in the 2nd half determined to show their character. Off the back of Mark Gallagher and John Kaddo they clawed their way back with 3 goals to pull within striking distance. Ultimately, it was not meant to be and NYPD took advantage of a called handball at the top of the box, quickly kicking it into an open net before anyone on the WIFC side was able to get into position.
The score ended 6-4 for NYPD and left a bitter taste in the mouth of the WIFC defense. The whole side will have to turn things around quickly as they have a couple of challenging games coming up.
