West United vs. Aliens

History was made on this day at sahlens field!  West United had never beaten Aliens in their history until today.  The final score of 2-0 was fully earned.  West United controlled the majority of the game, had the lions share of chances and seemed to wear down Aliens as the game went on.  The scoring started after a superb run from Central defenseman Shawn Clancy led to a clever flick over the goaltender as he attempted to come out and cut the angle.  The ball was played through by Bjay Ryan.  After that Aliens had some moments but for the most part we're on their heals.  In the second half, Adam Carl launched a rocket from the left side on a tough angle that blew by the keeper.  The assist was drawn by Charlie Riley.  That was the end of the scoring!  Huge win by West United to keep them at the top of table.  Other highlights were the stellar defensive play by the back four.  Two huge saves by Brian Mariniello to keep Aliens from getting back in it.  Excellent play by the central midfield in controlling the pace of the game.  By far the best overall game West United played this season.
