Match RECAP:  Pierres SC
A Sunday at Snyder Park, in Sherwood, playing a new team in the league. Turns out to be a friendly practice with no official showing up. A bad week because the 065 group had no official show up at their Thursday night game as well. They were short handed so John La joined them. Robbie recruited a replacement goalie for us, Jon, which made it easier for us in that key position. Backline of John Sheie, Horacio, Reggie & Robbie; midfield of Paul, Rich, David & Jeff: front line of Nunn & Simon. On the sideline; Big Tim, Brian & Dan. They have several quick players & did a good job of moving the ball. We dominated much of the play but weren't getting it in the back of the net. At 15 minutes Dan came in for Simon up front. At 18 minutes Paul shoved a pass to Dan who quickly led a through ball to Nunn who attacked the near post and then delivered the perfect cross the goal pass to an on rushing Rich who slammed it home. At the 30 minute mark Nunn neatly touched a ball back to David waiting outside the box who cracked it in the upper left corner. Half ends with us up 2 but still Harold & I have that nervous feeling that somehow somethings going to fall apart. We start the second half and in less than 2 minutes Dan feeds Nunn a ball at the top of the box, he takes a step and hits a slow bending ball into the far post netting with their keeper watching in amazement. 22 minutes in Dan hits a long crossing ball to Simon on the wing where he takes it in stride, attacks the goal & places it into the far post netting. Second half we were able to give both Tim & Brian some game time (both on the mend from injuries). The back line did a great job, leaving them very little opportunity for even a shot at goal. Right at game's end (literally times up) they had a corner & on a scramble with a loose ball in front of the net it got poked in. For a friendly it actually turned out to be a friendly. We got some good game time & most importantly David got his goal with this being his last appearance for us this year. Thanks again to Simon for helping us out with numbers. John La's helping out with the Old Boys for the full 90 minutes gives us hope that he's getting back to be 100%. A good group at the pub afterwards & special toast to David for the time he had with the team this year.
