Our Statement on US Soccer Mandates:
US Soccer has announced it will standardize small-sided participation and field size based on player age groups, while also aligning birth-year registration calendars with the start of the calendar year and run from January to December.
We are working on several proposals to comply with the two-year timeframe of the US Soccer Federation mandates. We have been seeking DOC feedback as our technical directors put the final touches on our own PSPL plan.
We will have two DOC meetings in November to review the league technical committee's proposals:
To comply with the mandate, the PSPL aims to implement Birth Year for ALL age groups by the fall of 2016. We have already successfully implemented Boys U14 and older age groups and we feel confident we can carry out the remaining boys' age groups and Girls' age groups.
To comply with the mandate for small-sided games, the PSPL is planning to make the changes by the fall of 2016. However, we understand there may be some logistical questions and timelines that might be difficult to meet by next fall. We want to create a flexible and possibly a phased-in approach that would lead to full compliance by August 2017.
PSPL Technical Director Eddie Henderson and Coaching Education Director Dave Simeone are putting together our tentative plans that we will send to DOCS shortly.
If you have questions, suggestions or concerns about these US Soccer mandates, please forward them to Eddie, Dave or Stanley. It is our goal to provide a clear blueprint and a smooth transition for all of our clubs. Please click link below for more US Soccer details on these mandates.
