Match RECAP:  West United FC

It was a great first night of the BDSL season!  The first 45 minutes were fairly even.  West had a few half chances that we couldn't capitalize on.  Tidal were "pesky" in defense and forced a lot of turnovers in our own end and midfield.  The second half opened up a little bit as both teams pressed for the opening goal.

After Kirk Love got behind the defense, he was brought down by the last defender, on what I would describe as a text book dogso red card play  A yellow card and a free kick were given, and Carlos Maggiolo slotted his shot around the wall, off the post and in from about 25 yards out.

A few minutes later, a ball was played into the box from the right side and the tidal center back reached his arm up and handled it.  The referee gave a penalty kick, that Kirk love calmly finished.

About 10 minutes later, after a solid build up, Kirk found Luke lennox on the left side of the box, and after making a few defenders miss, Lennox found the back of the net with a composed low strike.

The rest of the game was fairly uneventful.  Of note, Cappuccio got beat on a long cross from the left, and Seth got his head to it, striking the West Crossbar firmly.  A great performance by Jess Mack earned him his first shutout in his BDSL debut!

Onto next week!
