The NYW 2001 Girls OPD Team is one of three teams heading to the Region I ODP Semi-Finals in Kirkwood, DE on June 24/25

On the final day of the ODP tournament the 00B’s, 02B’s, 00G’s, 01G’s and 02G’s all needed a win to finish atop their group and advance into their respective age group semi-finals.  The 02B’s, 00G’s and 01G’s did exactly that, while the 00B’s, despite losing to MD missed out on a tie breaker, as did the 02G’s who tied their final game vs NJ.

NYW has placed at least three teams (out of six) into the regional final four in each of the previous four years, won seven ODP Regional Championships during that time and had two national third place finishes. The NYW 02B’s, 00G’s and 01G’s will all be competing for the 2017 Region 1 ODP crown in their respective age groups on June 24/25 in Kirkwood, DE.

The Region 1 ODP Tournament is held each June in NJ (boys) and DE (girls) and is comprised of the ODP teams from the 15 state associations located in the northeastern region of the US.  Boys and girls teams in the U15 (‘02), U16 (‘01) and U17 (‘00) age groups compete for a Regional Championship. Regional champions in the U15 and U16 age groups will advance to a national final four in February of 2018 in Phoenix, AZ.

In February 2017, the NYW 01G’s were the second NYW ODP team to travel to the ODP National Final Four in Phoenix, AZ where they placed third (in 2015 the 99G’s did the same). This year’s ODP teams will look to follow in their footsteps by getting back to the ODP National Final Four to play for the national title.
