CYA Welcomes Dr. Keith Lawhorn!
Injury Awareness and Prevention Program 2012

We are excited to welcome Dr. Keith Lawhorn to our effort in providing CYA Members with accurate information regarding sports-related injuries.  In particular, we will address head and knee injuries over the coming weeks.  With all of the information disseminated about concussion awareness, it is important that an organization like CYA take a lead role in making sure our athletes are as safe as possible.

A committee has been formed to help post information on the CYA Website and establish seminars that all CYA Members can attend.  Dr. Lawhorn has offered to speak at the CYA Seminars and we couldn’t be more pleased!  Stay tuned to this portion of the website for upcoming details.

CYA Play It Safe Program

The safety and welfare of everyone who participates in our sports programs are of continuous priority.  As part of such efforts, the CYA Board of Directors has implemented the Chantilly Youth Association Play it Safe program. Play it Safe is focused on managing those initiatives which we believe are essential to providing the safest environment for our volunteers and communities we serve.

Among these initiatives are:

- Risk Management Policy Development
- Criminal Background Screening
- Child Abuse Prevention and Safety Training
- Injury Awareness and Prevention
- Process Resources and User Support

As part of our commitment to offering an outstanding youth program, we are also focused on improving the tools available to our user community  - volunteers, coaches, assistants and others.  Over the next few months we will be announcing new process and system enhancements which are intended to improve the overall user web site experience in the support of these safety initiatives.

For more information about Play it Safe, please contact the Chantilly Youth Association Executive Director at ExecDirector@ChantillyYouth.org
