The first game for both teams was on a beautiful, clear spring day with sun and mid 50s. Both teams started hesitantly, trying to assert control in the midfield with Eastside absorbing most of the pressure early on and Anchor Bay enjoying more of the possession. A partial counter-attack opened the scoring with Joe L. squeezing in a shot at the near post that went by the keeper. After that shots and goals came quickly: the next goal on a great individual effort, followed by a PK, and then a nice long ball over the top finished off by a chip over the keeper. The half ended 4-0.
After the break, Eastside enjoyed more of the possession and could also sit back a little more. One more goal by Christian and one by Anchor Bay ended the gorgeous morning. Two cautions were given early for unsportsmanlike conduct but the rest of the game was decidedly finished on the pitch.
