Match RECAP:  Sporting SC

First Half

CSA controlled the ball early on. Their wing play caused a lot of problems for our fullbacks. We weathered the storm and slowly began to push the ball with fast counters. We had three quality counters which led to the opening goal.

in the 15th minute a shot on goal was cleared off the line by what looked to be a handball. in the 19th minute, a shot from 35 yards out hit the post and bounced out. The third try was the charm. After reaching to the 18, Marc Vilson squared to Travis Cantrell who set up Saul Alvarez for the lead. He chipped the charging keeper. With the lead the team looked to control the match and pick apart the CSA defense.

However, in the 47th minute, CSA leveled after Chris Katona's cross picked out his forward for a clean header.

Second Half
In the second, we quickly let in a goal around the 57th minute. CSA pushed for more goals but we again weathered most of their attacks. In the final 15 minutes we started to push for an equalizer. Our best opportuity was in the 85th minute. Marc Vilson was left alone in front of goals but sent the shot sailing over the cross bar. Minutes later, on a counter CSA were given a PK in the 92nd minute.

"Tough way to lose. We let two goals in injury time. Mental lapses due to the heat I guess. But not all was bad. CSA were not sharp today. They missed much more than us."
