Match RECAP: Sporting SC The match was a close contest. Doxa relied heavily on wing play while we relied on a more possession style playing up from the back and producing countless short passes for long stretches.
Both teams produced chances but nothing that can be categorized as a scoring opportunity in the first half.
In the second half, we got our best opportunity 20 min in. Our guy Don “Messi” Oba was left alone with the keeper and he missed it.
Minutes later our winger Carlos Garcia was taken out with a tackle from behind that resulted in no card. Unfortunately he had to be subbed out.
The third final collapse happened when my defender was called for a handball on a sliding tackle. My keeper got a hand on the ball but the shot still went in.
We lost composure and things got worse. We let in another to end the game 2-0.
A lot of learning to do. New division and plenty of new challenges ahead.
