Match RECAP:  Barnstonworth Rovers FC

Game started with wide open play and Shamrock displayed good organization, ball skills, and fitness. We were on the ropes early with 2 bouncing across the goal chances for them that we were able to clear. They finally broke through about 20-25 min in on an overload of the right side that Stef failed to cover properly. Matt G came out to try and make a play and their player was able to 1 touch finish with a driven, curling ball perfectly weighted from about 25 yards out. A bad give away by Stef in their half led to another breakdown down our right side and Matt G came out again trying to make a play but missed. Their guy dribbled around Matt and crossed the ball into their guy for a tap in on the back post. They pushed for another goal but we made subs to correct the mistakes and started to create possession and some simple chances by late first half.

Halftime 2-0

Second half saw Shamrock less aggressive but still threatening.  Play was still wide open but our forwards failed to control long balls and make the correct runs needed to beat a team of this caliber. We were able to generate a nice sequence that found Jorge top of the box but he failed to control it and another where we played Jorge in 1v Keeper but he couldn't finish. Matt G made some great saves and the D had some goal line clearances to keep the scoreline close. The redeeming point is we may have finally solved our back line woes moving forward.

They were far and away the better team and are well organized, disciplined, fit, with creative corner and set piece plays. We held our own at times but against a team like this can't make simple defensive mistakes and need to finish our chances.
