Montco Alliance Premier 02-03 Boys - Champions at Jefferson Cup

Determination, Perseverance, Talent and Coaching - Montco Alliance Premier U13 Boys keys to success in winning the Championship at the Jefferson Cup.

As with most new ventures, having a vision of what success looks like and setting goals is paramount to bringing the vision to reality.  The Montco Alliance Premier U13 Boys team is no better example of a new venture that set out to exceed expectations with the ultimate goal of winning a championship at the prestigious Jefferson Cup.  Led by Ian Dawson and Dennis Squires, our coaches have spent countless hours training the boys tactically, strategically and psychologically.  They focused on the power of goal setting and clearly laid out the vision of our new premier program. Beginning the season at 33rd in PAE we set a goal to achieve a top 10
ranking.  As our season unfolded we continued to persevere and our determination grew as we got closer to our goal.  Our Fall season had us in the finals of every tournament.  That brought us to a challenging flight at
the Jefferson Cup where we shut out our first two opponents:  1-0 and 4-0. Followed by 1-1 draw in our third match which advanced us to the Championship match.  With three minutes left in regulation we found ourselves down 1-0.  Ian continued to mix and match lineups and formations while instilling confidence in our boys and reminding them of the determination needed to achieve our goal.  Finally, we broke through to tie the game at 1-1 with under three minutes left in regulation.  After two scoreless 5 minute extra time periods our fate was left to penalty kicks.  Ian later remarked that he had little doubt that we would only come away with the victory as we had the talent and determination to win.  Our vision of success was realized as we came away with a 3-2 victory in penalty kicks to win the Championship at the Jefferson Cup.  Our Montco Alliance Boys are now sitting at #5 in PAE.  Looks like it is time to reset our goals!
