U9 United Girls - Ukrainian Nationals Columbus Day - Finalists

U9 Girls United team participated in the 2015 Ukrainian Nationals Columbus Day Cup this past weekend.  The team versed Philadelphia Coppa and Marlton Dynamite (NJ) in the bracket games; placing 2nd in the bracket behind Coppa.  In the Semifinals they went up against Cherry Hill SC (NJ), the bracket B winner; advancing into the final with a strong performance.  In the tournament final the girls played the Philadelphia Coppa team; although they did not get the win, they did a great job.  We as coaches and parents are very proud of these girls as this is their 3rd straight tournament finalist appearance this year.

U9 Union Boys - YMS Columbus Cup - Champions

U10 Boys United - YMS Columbus Cup - Finalists

The U10 Boys United had a successful weekend, finishing runners up in the YMS Columbus Cup.  The boys got off to a strong start in their first game, knocking off the hosts 5-0 in a complete team effort.  They continued their strong play in the second game, defeating Valley AA United 8-1 which was highlighted by a four goal effort by Sam McVey.  Things started slowly in Sunday's first game but they picked up a goal just before halftime and poured it on in the second, defeating Lower Merion Warriors 5-0. In the finals, the boys started strong and were unfortunate to go down 1-0 early.  They bounced back right away with Noah Holland burying a shot from distance to tie things up.  Unfortunately, they were unable to build on that momentum and came up short against Warminster United.

U11 Girls Lazers - Ukrainian Nationals Columbus Day - Finalists

The U11 Girls Lazers had a very successful showing at the 2015 Ukrainian National Columbus Day tournament last weekend. After winning both games on Saturday and the semi final game on Sunday we advanced to the Finals against a team from Voorhees, NJ.  We had a 2-1 lead with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation and gave up a heartbreaking last second goal to force a 5 minute sudden death overtime.  Still tied after sudden death, it went down to penalty kicks and unfortunately we lost 2-1 on the very last shot of PK's.  So it was a heartbreaking loss after such a successful weekend, but the girls showed great sportsmanship and played fantastic soccer all weekend.  Over 4 games, we scored a total of 17 goals and gave up only 5.  We're very proud of their accomplishments!

U12 Union Girls - Western Lehigh Fall Fest - 2nd Place

This past weekend the U12 Union Girls travelled to Western Lehigh for the Fall Fest and went 3-0-1. Winning 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 and 1-1 tie. We dominated possession in all games while only giving up two rebound goals all tournament. We finished tied for first and were awarded 2nd place due to goal differential. Great weekend for soccer and friendship!

U13 Montco Alliance Boys - APL Explorer Cup -  Finalists

The U13 boys went into the top division of the APL Explorer Cup. The boys started of their campaign with a flawless performance against PDA who could argue as one of the best teams in NJ, the boys won 2-1. They then played their 2nd game of the day against Rage SC and came out victorious 2-1! The two Saturday wins propelled Montco Alliance into 1st place within the table and secured a semi final match up against Continental FC Barca on Sunday morning. The semi final finished 0-0 and the game went into PK's with Josh Moyer (GK) saving 2 spot kicks and the team converting 5 of 6 from the spot. The boys found themselves in the final playing the Philadelphia Union Academy. The team unfortunately fell short in the final 3-0 but performed at an extremely high level all weekend. The team demonstrated the hard work they have put in over the last 3 months has raised their level of play to compete with the likes of teams such as the Philadelphia Union Academy's. Congratulations Boys!
