Harleysville Football Club (HFC)
Parent/Spectator Code of Conduct
As parents, we will set a good example to our child in his/her soccer development by adhering at all times to the following:
- We will only give positive feedback and support to our child and all the players on the team and refrain from criticizing any perceived lapses in performance.
- We will not criticize the referee openly or directly ... during or after games. Any criticism shall be done in writing to HFC, not verbally.
- We will cheer at all games within the spirit of fair play and shall do our best to cheer the effort regardless of the outcome. We will be mindful in "lopsided" games where cheering our own "winning" team might be misunderstood.
- We shall leave the coaching to the coach during game. We will not to give our child instructions during the match as this may contradict the direction of the coach and leave the players feeling frustrated and confused.
- We shall find and highlight the "little successes" that our children achieve during each game.
- We will refrain from any form of negative communication or confrontation with the opposing team’s parents, players and coaches.
- We will not criticize our child’s coach to our child or other parents. Concerns should be raised with the coach or directly with Director of Travel.
- We will adhere to the "24-hour rule" meaning we must wait 24 hours after a game before attempting to speak with the coach regarding any problem except, of course, in the case of an emergency.
- We are responsible for ensuring that any guest spectator we bring to a game adhere to this code of conduct.
- We understand that improper behavior at a game may result in a parent or other spectator being asked to leave the field by the referee, the coach, tournament director or a club official.
- We understand that (upon review) HFC or the league can, and will if necessary, suspend our individual privilege to watch our child play and/or impose a fine should we not behave in accordance with this code of conduct.
