Jerry Stilwell was a three-year starter for Corning West High School during the mid 1980s prior to graduating in June of 1986. He excelled at wide receiver for the football team and was the starting point guard for the basketball team for three seasons that culminated with him being selected to the All-STC and All Twin Tiers teams as a senior. Jerry was selected as captain of both the football and basketball teams as a junior and a senior. As a senior, Jerry showed his all around talent on the basketball floor with a 13.3 scoring average along with 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 2.5 steals per contest. During his senior season, Jerry was named to the Sydney Christmas Tournament team along with being voted the Kiwanis MVP. He led this team to both the STC and Steuben County League championships in the 1983-84 season. He also played a key role while the Vikings ran off 21 straight regular season victories between 1983 and 1985. Jerry was a George Bacalles student honoree at the 1986 C-PP Sports Hall of Fame dinner. He continued his education at Cornell University where he earned both his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He is currently a teacher at Corning Free Academy middle school where he also coaches the girls and boys basketball teams.
