JOE SHINE
Football - 1997

Joe Shine graduated from Corning East in 1986 following a sparkling scholastic and athletic career. He was a three-year starter for the Trojans football team at both offensive guard and linebacker. Joe was a co-captain as a senior during a season that also saw him named as the winner of the Hickey Award for best defensive lineman at East and the Lions Club Defensive Lineman of the Year. As a senior, he earned a berth on the All-Twin Tiers team as both an offensive guard and linebacker. Joe was also named All-STC and capped his career by being named the co-MVP at East. He was also the co-captain of the lacrosse team in his senior year where he earned the coveted Shawn Corcoran Award. As a student, Joe also was a member of the National Honor Society and was Junior Rotarian in 1986 while serving as his class vice-president. Following his graduation from East, Joe enrolled at the University of Rochester and played four years at strong side linebacker, the last three as a starter when the U of R compiled a 25-6 record. He was a mainstay of the defense that was ranked 9th in the nation in Division in 1987 and 13th in 1989. Joe graduated from the University of Rochester with honors and is currently living in Bellcamp, Md. and just recently got married.
