Rebecca Scolaro is a 1992 graduate of Corning West High School and becomes the first inductee into the CPP Sports Hall of Fame for the sport of gymnastics. She joins her former coach Don Many in the Hall. Rebecca competed for the Corning District gymnastics team for five years and was a state qualifier each year. As a freshman, she was the Sectional AllAround champion and finished second AllAround in Sectionals as a sophomore and junior. During her senior season, Rebecca captured first place in Sectionals in Bar, Beam and Floor. She capped her senior year by winning the Shelly McGannon Award for Excellence in Athletics. Rebecca went on to Cortland State where she competed at the college level. In the 199394 season she was part of the Cortland State team that finished first in the Division III National Gymnastics Team Championship. Rebecca earned a Bachelors in Science Degree from Cortland State and currently resides in Corning. She is currently giving back to the sport she so strongly loved as a high school studentathlete. She is the coach of the Corning District Gymnastics team and also coaches the YMCA Gymnastics team.
