KRISTEN (WHEATON) SCHOONOVER graduated from Corning East High School in 2001 following a volleyball career that was highlighted by three consecutive trips to the NYS Final Four tournament. She was a two time allleague and twotime ALL-Leader selection at East. Following graduation, Kristen took her volleyball talents to Corning Community College where she set school records in a single season for kills (477), digs (191) and career records in kills with 866. While at CCC, her teams recorded a school best 26 wins in 2001 and twice went to the NJCAA National Tournament. She was named to the NJCAA AllAmerican team both years and was the Region MVP and Wayne Kenner Award winner in 2001. Kristen was such an impact player for the Red Barons volleyball team that they retired her #10 jersey. From CCC, Kristen went on to Elmira College where she led the Soaring Eagles from her outside hitter position. She set a single season record there for digs with 752 in 2004. She also had the fifth best season ever in kills with 509. In her twoyear stint with Elmira College, she ended fourth in career digs and 7th in career kills with all the other players ahead of her playing four years for the Soaring Eagles.
