MARK STIRPE graduated from Corning East High in 1994. He was a key member of the Trojans lacrosse team as an outstanding goalie. As a senior, he anchored the Trojans defense and was named the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year on a team that had an undefeated regular season before losing in the state championship game. Mark was a member of the Western team in the Empire State Games in 1993 and 1994. Following his high school career, Mark earned a lacrosse scholarship to Bucknell University. He started all 13 games for the Bisons as a freshman and then led them to an undefeated season in 1996 which ended in disappointment when Bucknell was overlooked by the NCAA tournament committee despite a 12-0 mark, winning the Patriot League and soundly defeating a second-place Army team that made the tournament. The Bisons were the only unbeaten team in the NCAA that season much to the efforts of Mark’s play in goal.
Mark graduated from Bucknell in 1998 and is currently working as a Project Manager for Streeter Associates, Inc. in Elmira.
