Robert P. Redner (deceased) capped his very successful high school career at Northside High School when he received the Harry Goldberg Trophy as the Outstanding Athlete at Northside following his senior year in 1942...was named All-County, first-team after his senior season when he hit .450 for the Tigers...was regarded as the best defensive catcher in the league and county with a highly respected throwing arm...led Northside to county championship in 1942 before losing to Monroe County of Rochester in the finals at Red Whig Stadium...an iron man behind the plate, Bob never missed an inning in 28 games as the Tigers catcher...also lettered in football and track serving as captain of baseball, football and track teams during his senior season..."Ruffy" entered the service in the Army Air Corps... while piloting a P47 in the Pacific Theatre he was killed when he crashed his plane on March 8,1945 in Lingayen Gulf, Philippines.
