Tony Ruocco graduated from Corning East in 1990 following a varsity career in which he earned eight varsity letters in football, lacrosse and basketball. He was considered one of the best tight ends to ever play football at East High with 65 receptions for 815 yards as three-year starter. Tony was a key member of the 1989 Section IV Class B Champions when he was named to the All-STC and All-Twin Tiers as both a linebacker and tight end, one of the few players ever to achieve a spot on that all star team, on both offense and defense. He was also named the Corning Lions Club Offensive Lineman of the Year. During that season in a 42-0 drubbing of Elmira Free Academy, Tony registered 17 tackles. For the season, he had 71 tackles, five sacks, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions while catching 24 passes for 283 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tony went to Canisius College on a lacrosse scholarship where he served as the team captain during his senior season. He also played outside linebacker as freshman for the football team. Tony is currently a physical education teacher at Patterson High School in Baltimore, Md. where he coaches the varsity team.
