Joe Ruocco has been involved in coaching in the CorningPainted Post area for over 25 years. He began his career at Corning West under CPP Hall of Famer Arnie Northrup in 1975 and stayed there until 1986. He took over as head football coach at West High in 1987 for a couple of years before taking a position with Division III power Mansfield as wide receivers coach. Joe coached at Mansfield for seven years setting many school records with his receivers who included AllAmerican John Wood. Joe also coached lacrosse at West High School. For the past 15 years Joe has been the coordinator of the Town of Erwin Pos Holmes Summer Basketball League that competes each summer in Hodgman Park in Painted Post. This league has helped develop some of the finest hoops talent in the area. Joe is currently living in Corning with his wife Theresa and is the father of Hall of Famers Tony Ruocco and Nick Ruocco who will be sharing his induction spotlight tonight. He still teaches Social Studies at Coming East.
