CEO's Message
December 2015
Welcome to South Carolina United FC

As the largest youth soccer club in the State of South Carolina serving players ages U4-U19, we offer quality soccer programs for any child who desires to play soccer at a level commensurate with his or her abilities regardless of race, religion or socio-economic background. Our "One Community-One Club-One Passion-All Youth-All Levels-All Soccer" brand is one we take extreme pride in as we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young adults through their involvement in the beautiful game of soccer.  Based in the capital city of Columbia located centrally in our state in Richland County, our 5,000 plus registered players come to Columbia from more than half of South Carolina’s 46 counties and from Georgia to play on our Special Needs, Recreation,  Jr. Academy, Select and PDL teams.  And through formal trademark licensure granted to the Greenwood Toros of the Lakelands region of South Carolina, we are proud of the successes they too are having  in developing quality youth soccer players and otherwise improving the lives of children.

Our is a highly organized club which provides (a) introductory/basic participation programming to first time players in our 3,000 plus player South Carolina United YMCA Recreational Youth Soccer League (Recreation), (b) ball skill mastery and team tactics programming for U8-U12 players (Jr.
Academy), (c) competitive team selection and higher level training programming for U12-U18 players (Select) which best fits the players current developmental needs and (d) our U23 Premier Development League (PDL) team which provided the country’s most elite college age male players the opportunity to pursue their dream through exposure to the next level.  In addition, as part of our recreational programming, our Strikers program provides youth soccer opportunity to children with special needs.

Since 2005, we have had over 230 players go on to play NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III soccer, NAIA soccer, Junior College soccer and have had players invited to various USYSA Region III and USSF National team camps and international competitions.  In addition, our U17 –U19 players have direct access to be evaluated for roster slots on our SC United Bantams U23 PDL team, the country’s premier pre-professional men’s league. Charleston Battery professional Zack Prince and Richmond Kickers Braeden Troyer, two of our former youth players, are both now enjoying professional careers. Most recently, our own U16 player Grayson Barber, is now playing for MLS Sporting Kansas City’s U16 team in residency in Kansas City and our own Kasey Parker, (SCUFC ’97 Elite), South Carolina’s reigning Female High School Gatorade Player of the Year, has committed to play for legendary coach Anson Dorance at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. In fact, more than a dozen of the players on our current SCUFC ’97 Elite team have already given their verbal commitments to play at colleges and universities of their choice next year.

Consistent with our non-profit mission, we take pride in the fact that no player has ever been denied the ability to play for our club because he or she cannot afford to play. Through generous support from our quality sponsors like BB&T of South Carolina, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of South Carolina and Under Armour and our many charitable donors, our non-profit organization is able to provide financial assistance to families who truly need such help to enable their children to participate.

In 2016 and 2017, you will see even more organizational changes as we continue to evolve and improve our service for our players and their families. With the implementation of using Coerver ball mastery trainers, you will see continued emphasis placed on on coaching development and player development at all levels within our organization. Over the next 12 months you will also start to see our new 24 acre five (5) field soccer training complex (known as “Project Training”) which we are constructing become a reality which will permit us to serve our families even better with systematic training conducted in our Jr. Academy and Select programs at one central location conveniently located near the intersection of I-20 and Monticello Road.

To those players and parents who have always called us "home", thank you so much for your loyalty and support. We certainly would not be where we are today (and headed tomorrow) without you! To those of you who may be visiting our website for the first time, thank you for taking a look. If you are intrigued by what you see and would like to learn more, please click on our Club Contacts link and feel free to email or call any member of our Soccer Leadership team and they will be more than happy to speak with you!
